Monetizing Your Traffic
Now that you have gotten traffic into your web site, what’s next? Well, keep in mind why you went online in the first place: that is to earn and monetize your traffic. There are many ways of monetizing your traffic:
1. Get online clients for your service: If you sell services like web site design and programming, and web hosting, online visitors can easily translate into money. You just have to make sure that you have information and incentive on your web site for your prospective clients to take the next step. The next step usually is to click on buy and checkout with an online payment system. This applies to easily setup or downloadable services such as web hosting, or full version software downloads. For project-status services like design and programming though, the next step is to fill in a Request for Quote (RFQ) form. With the RFQ, you have established contact with a prospective client and would just now need to follow up.
2. Set up online shopping: Many retailers have online shopping carts for their products. Users can just select purchases online and pay via credit card. Goods are delivered to them, within a matter of minutes or in a week’s time, depending on what these are and where they would be coming from. Like in any showroom, you need to make your goods attractive to your site visitors. This means you should have high quality photos they can look at; and if possible, include photos of different angles.
3. Site advertising: Online advertisers are interested in content-heavy web sites that attract regular visitors. For these types of ads, you can either charge an ad-posting fee per time period, or charge per ad view or per ad click. There are ready web software to enable per view or per click tallying. An alternative is to join big time ad programs like Google’s Ad Sense and earn for each per click thrus using their system.
